The completion of UF Health Durbin Park, a significant 42.5-acre health and wellness campus in St. Johns County, Florida, marks a major milestone in expanding medical services across Northeast Florida. Stellar, serving as the primary construction manager, played a crucial role in this development alongside design partner Gresham Smith, ensuring the project’s successful execution.
The first phase of the UF Health Durbin Park expansion includes a three-story, 72,000-square-foot medical office building and a five-story, 220,000-square-foot hospital. These facilities are strategically situated in the rapidly growing Durbin Park community. The medical office building, known as UF Health Durbin Park Medical Office Building 1, consolidates various specialty services such as general surgery, gynecology, heart and vascular care, laboratory services, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, outpatient rehabilitation, pain management, and urology.
Adjacent to the medical office, the newly completed UF Health Durbin Park Hospital offers comprehensive medical care with 99 inpatient beds and a 24-hour emergency department. It provides acute, intensive, and emergency care services, along with state-of-the-art operating rooms, advanced imaging, and hybrid laboratories for interventional procedures. Stellar’s involvement in the project extended through a joint venture with Batson-Cook Construction, managing the construction of a standalone central energy plant vital for the campus’s infrastructure.
This development is part of a broader $1 billion investment by UF Health in the Durbin Park area, anticipated to generate around 2,000 jobs. The expansion aims to meet the healthcare needs of the expanding population in St. Johns County and Jacksonville, enhancing access to advanced medical services in the region.
Stellar’s collaboration with UF Health on the Durbin Park campus underscores its ongoing commitment to significant healthcare construction projects. This expansion not only highlights their role in supporting regional healthcare infrastructure but also strengthens their partnership with UF Health, contributing to the area’s economic and community growth.
